Vaccines

While “immunizations” and “vaccines” are often used interchangeably, the Vaccines page gives space to explaining specific vaccines, newer formulations, and vaccine safety. At Maumee Bay Pediatrics, we strive to keep families in the Toledo/Oregon, Ohio area informed about what vaccines are available, why they matter, and how the process works.

We provide all routine childhood vaccines — including DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis), IPV (polio), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b), hepatitis A/B, HPV, pneumococcal vaccines, rotavirus, and varicella. In addition, we offer booster shots and adolescent vaccines like Tdap and meningococcal, flu vaccines, and COVID-19 vaccines per current guidelines.

Newer vaccines and updates — such as updated influenza strains, newer conjugate vaccines, or COVID-19 boosters — are continuously reviewed by our clinical team. We monitor guidance from public health agencies and bring that knowledge to families in Oregon and Toledo.

For pediatric vaccines, safety is always paramount. We use only vaccines approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), stored and handled under strict conditions, and administered by trained pediatric staff. Before each vaccine, we screen for allergy history and contraindications, and we observe children afterward for any immediate reactions.

We also understand that parents may have questions or concerns about vaccine schedules, combinations, side effects, or delaying certain vaccines. We welcome those conversations and provide evidence-based information in a respectful, empathetic way.

If you’d like a vaccine consultation (for example, for travel, special circumstances, or catch-up immunizations) or simply want to review your child’s vaccination record, Maumee Bay Pediatrics is here for you. We serve families in Oregon, Ohio, Toledo, and the surrounding communities.
