Pediatric Allergy Testing
Allergy assessment may begin with a detailed history—symptoms, timing, exposures, family history—followed by testing. When appropriate, we offer skin prick testing, serum-specific IgE blood tests, or elimination diet protocols. We can test for common allergens including dust mites, pollen, molds, pet dander, insect stings, and relevant food allergens.
When a specific allergy is identified, we develop a tailored management plan. This may include allergen avoidance strategies, medications (antihistamines, nasal sprays, inhalers), or immunotherapy referrals. We coordinate care with allergy/immunology specialists when needed.
We also educate families on recognizing and managing allergic reactions—including anaphylaxis risk, use of epinephrine auto-injectors, emergency plans, and avoidance strategies. We ensure your child’s school or daycare in Oregon/Toledo knows how to respond to allergic emergencies.
Children with allergic conditions often require ongoing monitoring. We adjust therapy with season changes, re-evaluate testing as children grow older, and support tolerance development when possible (for food allergies, for example).
If your child is exhibiting symptoms such as chronic runny nose, sneezing, hives, eczema, wheezing, or food reactions, contact Maumee Bay Pediatrics. We serve families across Oregon, Ohio and Toledo with comprehensive allergy testing and care to help improve your child’s quality of life.
