Developmental Screening
We use validated screening tools (such as ASQ, M-CHAT, developmental milestone checklists) at recommended ages to evaluate cognitive, motor, language, social, and emotional domains. Screening is typically done at 9, 18, and 24 or 30 months, or when concerns arise.
If a screening raises concerns, we perform further evaluation or refer your child to early intervention services, developmental pediatricians, speech therapists, occupational therapists, or other specialists. Early detection and support often improve long-term outcomes.
We also review parental concerns, school or daycare observations, and past health history. At every wellness visit in Oregon and Toledo, we remain alert for red flags in behavior, social interactions, speech delay, motor delay, or autism spectrum disorder indicators.
Families often benefit from our guidance in developmental stimulation — activities, play strategies, and milestones to target at home. We partner with parents to build environments that promote language, social skills, motor development, and emotional regulation.
If you or your child’s teacher or caregiver has concerns about your child’s development, or if your child is scheduled for a screening, Maumee Bay Pediatrics is here. We serve the Toledo and Oregon, Ohio communities with diligence, compassion, and a focus on early support.
